O corpo

Caro Ronaldo, excelente poema. Belo.

Dear Rona,
I don't speak Portugese at all, so I don't understand your poem. What I do understand is that you think that the person in this picture is dead. No, he isn't, I can assure you. He is sleeping on the terrace of Abdullah Shah Ghazi Shrine in Karachi and covering his body and face with a blanket. The picture is taken out of my blog where I commented it with a text (in German, of course) telling the story how I discovered the sleeping person just after I saw a real dead body in a special area of the shrine. You downloaded that image probably in the press image section of the "embedded art" website. Which is legal. The "embedded art" press staff selected this image because they probably thought it was "spectacular", evoking notions of death. To publish it in your blog without specifying its origin and context - the exhibition "embedded art" in Berlin, my art project - is not adequate and I would kindly ask you to remove it from your website. Still I find it quite interesting how excrescences, deformations and disinformation are created in the labyrinths of the world wide web.
Regards,
Christina

Caro Rona, excelente poema.

Dear Christina:

Since you left no e-mail address, I'll post my reply on my blog.

Before anything, my sincere apologies for the inadequate use of your picture. I found it in a newsletter from BBC Brazil, and I was led to believe that it was legal to use it on my Blog. That’s why I’ve published it, specifying the author and the source where I thought the picture was from. By the context in which the picture was inserted, I’ve judged that the body was dead. The beauty of the photo and everything it suggests as an illustration of the recent conflict in Gaza led me to use it to illustrate my poem. Therefore, I’ll sadly remove your piece of art from my Blog.

Sincerely yours,
Ronaldo Monte

Dear Ronaldo,
when I went out this evening after posting the comment, I thought that I overreacted. It is very touching that the image has been an inspiration for your poetry. Please feel free to publish it. I just wanted to make a point that this is a photo of a sleeping person looking - in my imaginary - like a dead person. It is taken at a very peaceful religious sanctuary and it has no relation to the horrible Gaza war. Please let your imaginary go on with its fine work.
Yours,
Christina

Caro Professor Rona
