Além do rio, a utopia

Está sempre além do rio

o lugar para onde fluem

todos os nossos desejos,

toda a nossa esperança.

Está sempre além do rio

o lugar onde todos um dia terão

um teto, água quente,

um cachorro, um gato,

ou bicho nenhum.

Está sempre além do rio

o lugar onde cada um

possa encontrar um amigo,

um amor ou a solidão voluntária.

Está sempre além do rio

o lugar em que eu possa

encontrar a mim mesmo

ao dobrar uma esquina.

Por isso ali se deve andar

devagar e a pé.

Estão sempre além do rio

todas as possibilidades de se viver

em paz em torno de uma mesa.

Por isso, o dia primeiro de abril

deve ser o dia além do rio.

O dia da Utopia.

Beyond the river, the utopy

 

Always beyond the river is

the place where

all of our desires,

all of our hope flow.

Always beyond the river is

the place where all will someday have

a roof, warm water,

a dog, a cat,

or no kind of pet.

Always beyond the river is

the place where each one

may find a friend, a love

or voluntary loneliness.

Always beyond the river is

the place where I can find myself

turning a corner.

Hence one must always move

slowly and on foot.

Always beyond the river are

all the possibilities to live

in peace around a table.

Hence the first of April

shall be the day beyond the river.

The day of Utopy.
